eTEK acquired all of the assets and trademarks of MTX International in January 1998. At that time, MTX was a 22-year-old software company that had developed one of the first true Windows-based accounting systems, released originally in 1992.
Bill Gates featured an early version of MTX Accounting (the foundational basis for most eTEK systems) in a specialized Windows NT-based point-of-sale retail application at COMDEX Spring '94.
Later that year, that original version became the first accounting software to be certified as Microsoft Office Compatible, a feature that has since been further enhanced significantly by eTEK, including the addition of versions designed for Microsoft SQL Server and "the cloud".
Since eTEK was established, the company has consistently earned top ratings for their products in reviews published by The CPA Technology Advisor magazine, and others.
